Successes

Since its founding Sterling Resources International has been resolving the challenge of difficult searches – a key part of its reputation for transforming companies into industry leaders.

A rewarding global relationship

From the onset, one of Sterling’s first assignments was with a very prestigious American Top Tier firm to fill a position in FIG by attracting talent from a similarly regarded rival – something the client never managed to do. Sterling hired the desired candidate, and they became the head of M&A for Hong Kong. We then secured their prime target to become the Head of the Seoul Korea Office, then Head of Korea. This began a long rewarding relationship with the Investment Banking arm, entailing hiring engagements on four continents across all industry sectors including Corporate Finance, Capital Markets, Derivatives, Private Equity and Fixed Income.

Fueling specialist sector growth

What was once then a small regional southern commercial bank that purchased a prestigious healthcare boutique – only to have all the partners and bankers leave the merged entity, after the deal was closed. Sterling was duly hired to create a Healthcare Investment bank: over three years, 65 bankers were selected from different firms and the new entity became the dominant force in Healthcare Investment banking for the next two decades. Sterling Resources International was also tasked with building up the banks’ Financial Institutions and helping to create a team to build business and profile. Consequently, what began as a Regional Commercial Bank is now one of the top three Global Large Cap Investment and Corporate Banks in the world.

A Merger Challenge

In the late 90’s an Investment bank was acquired by a Commercial bank, but the merger saw many top investment bankers leave and the firm endured a slump, dropping down in the League Table Rankings to 20th. In 2005 Sterling was hired to rebuild the Investment Bank. By identifying and securing the proper teams for Healthcare, Utilities, Industrial, Energy and Retail, Sterling helped the bank to achieve top 3 Ranking status by 2012 in League Tables.

Sterling Resources International identified and installed a team of 35 bankers, from Head of Investment Banking down to associate, including Corporate Finance and Capital Markets. Since 2013, this regional Healthcare Boutique been consistently ranked first in North America.
